Who am I?
My name is Richard and I am a fully qualified PGA Professional based at Hockley Golf Club in Hampshire in the UK. Having started my golfing journey relatively late in life at the age of 17, extensive tuition experience has been essential in finding myself to now be a qualified teaching pro at the age of 26.
From all the coaches and sessions I have been fortunate enough to experience, I feel that I am in a strong position to bring all the best elements of those experiences to become one, in my own coaching strategy and delivery.
Having experienced both good and not quite so good golf tuition myself, I am confident in my ability to deliver a fantastic service to golfers of all abilities and needs in order to improve their experience in the game.
Philosophy
As a coach, the biggest goal of mine is to facilitate my students in becoming their own coaches. My philosophy is based on self-diagnosis, and specifically the words ‘How’ and ‘Why’.
My top priority is not just to get my students to improve their game in my presence, but to also understand WHY the bad shots happen and HOW they can go about correcting these to create better shots. Without this, the ability to either replicate good shots, or correct bad ones is pretty much down to chance.
The ability to self-diagnose using ‘How’ and ‘Why’ means that practice sessions and on-course time are so much more worthwhile.
